According to a story published by the Medford Mail Tribune, the Eagle Point School Board has approved the proposed name change for two merging grade schools in White City- White Mountain and White City Elementary. The new school will be known as Table Rock Elementary School. The new school will use both of the old schools' campuses: kindergarten through second grade students will attend classes at the Mountain View campus, while third through fifth grade classes will be conducted at the old White City Elementary campus.
Teachers selected the name from a final list of three suggested names. Possible names for the merging schools were initially submitted by parents, staff and teachers. Students will be given the opportunity ro select a mascot.
Karina Rizo is Principal at White Mountain, and she says a part of the appeal with the Table Rock name, is that not only can the Table Rocks be seen from school, there is also an "Upper" and "Lower" Table rock, just like there will be an upper and lower campus for the newly merged school.
