Standing Stone Brewing Company, is being recognized by Ashland Fire and Rescue as the town's first "Emergency Prepared Business." They are being hailed by the fire department as "taking a proactive approach....to become disaster prepared in terms of processes for public and employee safety and business continuity."
Several employees attended the Emergency Prepared Business Workshops held in coordination by Ashland CERT to gain information for what steps Standing Stone could take to provide a safe environment for employees and their customers. The business retrofitted their building for seismic activity, created an active safety committee and purchased generators in preparation for a power outage. After the workshops, employee contact procedures were devised, video archiving of property in case of damage, and some of Standing Stone's brewing operations were revised to keep 420 gallons of water immediately available for use in the event of a disaster similar to the New Year's Flood of 1997.
Standing Stone will be honored Wednesday March 19 st 5:30 p.m.
