Oregon State University President Ed Ray says neighborhood opposition will not alter OSU's plan to put its Central Oregon campus on the west side of Bend.
The university's decision to place a proposed new campus there has met opposition from people concerned about increased traffic and changes to the character of residential neighborhoods.
Ray says there will be no more than 3,000 to 5,000 students on the 56-acre site, and the school will work with the community to accommodate the growth.
KTVZ and The Bulletin newspaper report that Ray was asked Wednesday whether it would be possible to put the campus on the north side of the city, where traffic is less of a concern. Ray said: "The simple answer is no."
