New Bend Campus May Get Expansion Space

By Jim McCoy Fri 25th April NewsOSU- Cascades Campus
An agreement in the works in Bend could give the emerging four-year Oregon State Cascades Campus room to expand on a site that stored industrial waste and construction material. The site has been vacant since the landfill closed in 1997. Deschutes County Administrator Tom Anderson told The Bend Bulletin (http://bit.ly/1pycSN0) details could be public in a few weeks. He says the agreement would deal with environmental remediation. A university vice president, Kelly Sparks, says it could be just a "good neighbor relations" agreement, or something that leads to, for example, sports fields, parking or housing on the site. She says that even without the space the school can grow to 5,000 students with the 56 acres of land it's planning to use.
