Rain-delayed work to begin open ditch excavation on Interstate 5 will resume Sunday night, April 27. Construction workers will install a 4-foot diameter storm water pipe beneath the highway, about a half mile north of the interchange. For a 25-day period ending May 22, I-5 will be narrowed to a single lane in each direction, with speeds reduced to 50 mph.
ODOT traffic analysts predict two-mile traffic queues. Drivers are strongly encouraged to drive at off-peak hours, take RVTD transit, or use alternate routes, such as Oregon 99 or North Phoenix Road, to avoid congestion along I-5.
