8 Foot Deer Fences Proposed For Eugene Homes

By Jim McCoy Tue 6th May Newsdeerfences
The Eugene Planning Commission is considering allowing homes to have fences up to 8 feet high. Why? To keep out deer. The Register-Guard reports (http://bit.ly/1nlgbD6 ) City Councilor Betty Taylor proposed higher fences for residents complaining about deer raiding their flower and vegetable gardens. Currently the height limit is 3.5 feet for front yards and 6 feet for side and back yards. The increased height would have to be wire fencing to preserve views. The commission is holding a hearing on deer fences Tuesday evening and the measure may go to the City Council on June 16.
