To raise awareness of pedestrian safety and the rules concerning right of ways, the Medford Police Department is conducting a crosswalk enforcement Monday, May 19. The three-hour operation will be from 9 a.m. to noon at the corner of East 4th St. and Bartlett.
Motorists must stop and remain stopped when a pedestrian enters a crosswalk in the motorist's lane and the adjacent lane of traffic. The rule applies for single and multi-lane roadways. Motorists may not pass another stopped for a pedestrian. Violators may be fined up to as much as $260.00.
