On average, 164 law enforcement officers die in the line of duty. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as a day to honor those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Tomorrow (Thursday), the Jackson County Sheriff's Office will host a ceremony to honor fallen officers at the August Singler Plaza between the Jackson County Courthouse and the Jackson County Jail.
An invocation, color guard, ceremony and bagpipe performance will all be a part of the event, along with speeches from community leaders. The public is welcome and the event begins at 9:30 a.m.
