The Curry County Sheriff's Office says a woman has drowned in the Rogue River after going in to retrieve a Frisbee. Sheriff John Bishop says 38-year-old Cherie Michelle Jarnigan of Gold Beach was at Huntley Park six miles upriver from Gold Beach on Monday afternoon with her two young children while her husband was at a job interview. Bishop says witnesses reported Jarnigan went into the river to retrieve a Frisbee and got in over her head. Then a woman with her tried to save Jarnigan and they were both swept downriver. Then a man jumped in to help. When deputies got there, some people from a passing tour boat and others were trying to revive Jarnigan on the riverbank. She was pronounced dead at Curry General Hospital.
