Ashland Police Warn of Scam

By Jim McCoy Thu 26th June Newsscam
The Ashland Police are warning of a scam that has been occurring recently. Complaints have been received concerning phone calls from someone who says he represents the "Jackson County Federal Warrants Division." He claims that he has a warrant for the intended victim's arrest and says money must be posted to forego an arrest. So far, several residents have reported they have been called by the scammer, with one person falling for it. The Ashland Police say to be wary of anyone demanding money over the phone. No legitimate police officer would make such a demand over the phone. Please record the number from the caller ID, advise the caller that police are being notified, hang up and then call the police.
