Several Smaller Fires Touched Off By Lightning

By Jim McCoy Wed 30th July Newswildfires
Thunderstorm activity touched off seven small fires around Southern Oregon Tuesday night. The Oregon Department of Forestry says strikes were especially heavy across Mt. Ashland to Grizzly Peak. The largest reported fire was 1.5 acres on Pilot Rock Road. Meanwhile, a fire line has been completed around the 232-acre Reeves Creek Road Fire. The containment level was rolled back to 50 percent due to concerns about the weather. A Level One evacuation notice remains in effect for Wild Park Lane. At this level, residents are instructed to be prepared to leave. A red flag warning is in effect today throughout much of the Southwest Oregon District.
