Fires Created By Monday's Storm Activity Contained

The Oregon Department of Forestry is reporting that no homes were damaged and no injuries were suffered in a fire along Rogue River Drive and Dry Creek Road that started yesterday afternoon at 4:30. The blaze grew quickly to 100 acres, and plumes of smoke could be seen from Central Point. Four more lightning-caused fires were fought overnight: two in the Applegate area near Sterling Creek and Boaz Gulch. Two more were reported in the Emigrant Lake area near Ashland. These fires never grew past a tenth of an acre. At last report, a handful of unconfirmed fires were being investigated. More thunderstorms are forecast for today. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect until 11 p.m. tonight. Some rain may accompany the thunder and lightning.
