Ashland sidewalk construction project pleases parents
The Ashland city council has approved a plan for building a new stretch of sidewalk that should make life safer for many elementary and middle school students.
The Walker Avenue Safe Route to School project will connect a sidewalk from Walker Avenue’s intersection with Ashland Street to an existing section across from Ashland Middle School.
The project will also fund improvements to smooth out Walker Avenue’s rough railroad crossing. Construction is not due to begin until 2013, but parents are already giving the plan their seal of approval.
