Gold Hill questions fire service
Gold Hill city officials are voicing concerns over service levels and response times of Jackson County Fire District Number 3.
Councilors have suggested that the city might be able to find better service elsewhere. One councilor points to a recent incident when the fire district responded to a blaze by sending a truck that was too large to fit down the town’s narrow alleyways.
The city currently pays $200,000 out of the district’s $14 million budget, for the fire services. Chief Dan Peterson from Jackson County Fire District 3 says “If you look at what you’re getting for that $200,000, could you run a fire department that would get you a better service?”
