Jacksonville mayor wants to regenerate enthusiasm for city's historical status
Jacksonville mayor Paul Becker wants to put the history back in the city by rousing the City Council and Historic Architectural Review Commission to put into place programs that protect Jacksonville’s heritage.
At a time when the financial climate is a major factor, Becker is keen for progress after some minor structural issues have arisen in the city recently.
A historic preservation grant program run by the city provides 50-50 matching for owners who want to do repairs. This year a total of $35,000 was available.
