Oregon drug conviction heads to Oregon Supreme Court

Uncertainty still surrounds the final outcome of the case of a Medford woman whose 2007 drug conviction was overturned Wednesday.

Sheryl Singer was originally found guilty of possession of a controlled substance, but this verdict was reversed by the Oregon Court of Appeals, after it ruled that a Medford police officer illegally obtained key evidence against singer during a routine traffic stop.

Ordinarily, the charge would be removed from Singer’s record in about 2 months, but the Department of Justice is asking for a review from the Oregon Supreme Court on the issue, so the case may be far from over.
