Sex offender caught after multiple elude attempts

A registered sex offender is lodged in Jackson County Jail, charged with attemping to elude, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and reckless driving after multiple attempts to escape police.

Edward A. Clement had eluded police several weeks ago, but his luck ran out last Saturday when he was sighted by officers at a gas station in Shady Cove.

Clement was able to escape by car but was apprehended shortly afterwards after another pursuit in the shady cove area.

A taser and pepper spray were deployed by police after Clement was un co-operative.
