Tue 13th September Newborns at Rogue Valley Medical Center's Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit now have a new home in the hospital thanks to a $6 million expansion. Steve Best has the details…
The expansion has officially opened its doors for new families. Two new wings have opened one floor above the hospital's current unit, and the new space provides 9,000 cubic feet for an additional 16 babies.
The expansion puts the newborns farther away from other rooms, and nurses say the quiet atmosphere benefits the babies, while mothers say it helps them feel like a family.
The hospital's current NICU is also still in use. the plan is to use both units, keeping about half the babies in each location.
