Green workforce accounts for 3% of Oregon jobs

The Oregon Employment Department has revealed that those involved in green-related jobs now make up at least three percent of the total workforce. Steve Best has more..

A report by the department estimated that over 43,000 jobs were spread across over 4 ,300 employers in 2010.

The jobs were concentrated in several industries, including construction, natural resources and mining and state and local government, with nearly one of every four green jobs in the construction industry.

When it came to wages, green jobs paid slightly higher than non-green jobs in 2010, while the largest geographical share of green jobs was reported in the Portland area and the Willamette Valley.

Southern Oregon accounted for 11 percent of all green jobs
