After making the news this week with the announcement of impending branch closures, a Medford-based bank is back in the headlines – but under much happier circumstances. Steve Best explains…

PremierWest Bank announced last weekend the closure of 11 branches in Oregon and California,  but it has now revealed that it will be stepping up to offer help to an all-day kindergarten program threatened by a lack of funding.

The bank is to give $2300 – equal to the cost of a month of operation  - to the Kids Unlimited Kindergarten Enrichment Program at Medford’s Jackson Elementary School.

Premierwest says education is critical to the survival of our community, and is challenging other banks to follow their lead and also donate to the program.
