The Oregon Department of Transportation says the names and Social Security numbers of 62 current and former employees were accidentally made accessible to the public online, possibly for as long as nine years. Steve Best has more
The breach was reported in August, when a citizen told that ODOT that their file transfer protocol site included personal information, including encoded Social Security numbers.
Department officials say they're unsure how long the file was accessible online but it could have been there since 2002.
ODOT says the data has now been removed from the public domain, and the agency has apologized to the people, who were in ODOT's environmental programs. None have reported problems.
