Two Oregon newspapers demanded the records from the Oregon Public Employees Retirement system last year in a bid to shed a light on state spending.

As part of a court settlement between the two sides, the names of 110,000 retired public employees will be released next month. They were closed in 2002, but Attorney General John Kroger declared them to be public. PERS sued, but later agreed to a settlement.
