Red Cross opening shelters in western Oregon

Red Cross volunteers are mobilizing all over the region to respond to the aftermath of this week’s storms.

Officials have been working with local governments to provide shelter and resources for those who have been forced to evacuate by flood waters, or who have been stranded in snowy conditions.

Shelters have been opened in nearly a dozen counties including Curry, Coos, Lane, Marion and Lincoln counties.

Volunteers have used schools, churches and community buildings as temporary shelters.
