Two men have been charged after being arrested this week by Medford police in connection with the theft of automobile batteries and scrap metal. Steve Best has details…

36-year-old Joe Lloyd Brotton and 30-year-old Travis Tritt from Medford were arrested Tuesday following a tip they had sold around 25 car batteries to local recycling businesses.

The two men are alleged to have stolen the batteries from 4 other Medford businesses, along with additional batteries and scrap metal from a White City property.

They were charged Thursday with first-degree theft, two counts of first-degree theft by receiving, and three counts of third-degree theft.

With vehicle battery theft on the increase, police recommend vehicle owners take extra care to secure vehicles.
