ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - The Texas Rangers are playing host to Tampa Bay this evening in the American League play-in game. The winner advances to the Wild Card game this Wednesday night in Cleveland against the Indians. The Rangers and Rays were forced into the playoff by finishing tied for the second wild card berth behind the Indians. CHICAGO (AP) - Dale Sveum is out as manager of the Chicago Cubs. He held the job for two seasons and had a record of 127-197. The Cubs were 66-96 this season after losing 41 of their last 59 games. NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Monday Night football returns to the Superdome tonight as the Saints play host to the Dolphins. Each club was 7-9 last season but is off to a 3-0 start this year. SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego Chargers have lost linebacker Dwight Freeney for an unknown amount of time. General manager Tom Telesco says Freeney has a torn quadriceps muscle and that the club doesn't know the severity of the injury or the time frame for recovery. GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - The New York Knicks have rewarded coach Mike Woodson with a contract extension through the 2014-15 season. He led the Knicks to a mark of 54-28 last season and the Atlantic Division championship.
