DETROIT (AP) - The Monday NFL game is being held in Detroit tonight as the Lions entertain the Ravens. The outcome of the game will affect the race for post season play for several teams. In the AFC North the Ravens are in second place at 7-6 while first-place Cincinnati is 9-5. In the NFC North the Lions can tie the Bears for first place at 8-6 with a win. CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Indians have been on the lookout for a new closer since parting ways with Chris Perez at the end of the season. The search is apparently over as the Tribe has announced an agreement with John Axford, who pitched for the Brewers and Cardinals last season. He had a 1.74 earned run average in 13 games for the National League champion Cardinals. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Pitcher Mike Pelfrey is reportedly on his way to the Minnesota Twins. A deal was reportedly reached over the weekend between the two sides. A person with direct knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that they two sides agreed on an $11 million, two-year contract. He was 5-13 with a 5.19 earned run average and 53 walks in 152 2-3 innings last season with the Twins. UNDATED (AP) - Arizona remains the top team in the weekly Associated Press men's Top-25 basketball poll. Rounding out the top five this week are Syracuse, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State. PITTSBURGH (AP) - Forward Evgeni Malkin of the Penguins, the NHL's third-leading scorer, is listed as day-to-day with a left leg injury. He left Saturday's game after sliding hard into the end boards.
