MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) - The women's title match is being played this evening, U.S. time, at the Australian Open. This year's finale has fourth seed Li Na (lee nah) playing 20th seed Dominika Cibulkova (doh-mih-NEE'-kuh see-bool-KOH'-vuh). This is her first appearance in the Australian Open final while Li has taken part in two. CHICAGO (AP) - Despite the fact the team finished in last place in the American League Central last season, the Chicago White Sox have agreed to a multi-year contract extension with manager Robin Ventura (vehn-TUR'-ah). The 2013 season was his second as the Sox skipper. In 2012, Ventura led the White Sox to 85 wins and a second-place finish in the division. SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The San Antonio Spurs will have to do without forward Kawhi (kuh-WEYE') Leonard for a while. He will miss 3-4 weeks with a broken bone in his right hand. The 6-foot-7 Leonard was injured Wednesday night in the first half of a game against Oklahoma City. SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - The San Jose Sharks have signed two key members of their team to new contracts. Captain Joe Thornton and franchise leading goal scorer Patrick Marleau (MAHR'-loh) have each been given a three-year contract extension. Each player is now under contract to the Sharks through the 2016-17 season. DALLAS (AP) - Josh Brent, the former Dallas Cowboys player who was convicted this week of the intoxication manslaughter death of his friend and teammate Jerry Brown, has been sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years of probation. The crash that killed Brown took place in December 2012 on a suburban Dallas highway.
