Two big interleague rivalries start tonight with games in Oakland and Washington. The Athletics are playing host to the nearby San Francisco Giants in a game that features the divisional leader from the American League West against the second-place team from the National League West. The other game has the Orioles, the first place team in the AL East, playing the Nationals, who are in second place in the NL East. NEW YORK (AP) - Kurt Rambis, formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers, has been named associate head coach of the New York Knicks. In his new job he rejoins former teammate Derek Fisher, the Knicks new head coach, and Phil Jackson, former the Lakers coach who is now the man in charge of the Knicks operation. SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - The San Jose Sharks have agreed to a three-year contract with restricted free agent forward Tommy Wingels. Last season he ranked fifth on the team with 16 goals to go along with 22 assists in 77 games. He also led the Sharks with 218 hits and was used as a penalty killer and on the second power-play unit. UNDATED (AP) - The first of the World Cup semifinal matches takes place tomorrow. Host Brazil is facing Germany. The second is Wednesday with Argentina playing Netherlands. It all comes to an end this weekend with the third place match on Saturday and the championship match Sunday.
