UNDATED (AP) - The U.S. Open, which starts play next week, won't have defending champion Rafael Nadal participating. The 27-year old has withdrawn from the Open, citing an injured right wrist. This marks the second time in three years that Nadal has had to skip the tournament. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Kansas City, the hottest team in baseball over the last few weeks, has a game tonight in Minneapolis against the Twins. The Royals have won 20 of their last 25 games to move past Detroit into first place in the American League Central. UNDATED (AP) - The first-place Nationals of the National League East start a series at home tonight with Arizona. The Nats start the day with a six-game lead over the Braves and tonight Atlanta is in Pittsburgh to play the Pirates. ST. LOUIS (AP) - The Cardinals can pick up some ground on first-place Milwaukee in the National League Central tonight. St. Louis, which is three games back of the Brewers, is home tonight to the Reds, while the Brewers are idle. WASHINGTON (AP) - Former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel gets another shot at impressing the Cleveland Browns' coaching staff tonight. With a self-imposed deadline to name a starting regular season quarterback tomorrow, the Cleveland coaching staff will be watching Manziel and veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer as Cleveland plays at Washington tonight.
