Amphibious Fire Engine: Jacksonville Victorian Christmas Parade!

December 1 @ 10:00 am

Free

December 1 the Amphibious Fire Engine is participating in Jacksonville’s Victorian Christmas Parade, and our special guest rider is Santa Claus! Fortunately, Santa was not a passenger when the engine was unceremoniously dumped in the creek during the 1948 Ashland flood. Rescued from the creek, the engine had been in private hands since the mid-1970s. In the spring of 2017, the fire engine was donated to the Southern Oregon Historical Society. Following months of restoration, the vehicle made its debut in Ashland’s July 4 parade, followed by appearances at Hanley Farm and at the Old Wood House two-day Harvest Festival.  The Jacksonville Victorian Christmas Parade is another opportunity to view this piece of history!  Following the parade, the Fire Engine will be on display by Trolley Stop Antiques on Third Street, between the US Hotel and the Beekman Bank.  You’re invited to climb on the fire engine, honk the horn, ring the bell, operate the siren and try on a real fireman’s helmet!
