February Quilt & Genealogy Talk: “McKinnis Postage Stamp Quilt”

February 25 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Free

Throughout history, traditional postage stamp quilts were made of thousands of tiny 1-inch x 1-inch sc

raps of fabric left over from sewing. In 1930, making use her leftover fabric, Mary Ann (Renollet) McKinnis created a quilt for her oldest daughter, Lena Luella. This quilt, the only known remaining hand-pieced postage stamp quilt, was donated by Mary Ann’s great-great-granddaughter, Andrea Matthews, to the Talent Historical Museum. At the February Quilt and Genealogy Talk, guest speaker Anne Billeter will tell you more about this unique quilt and its history.

Quilt and Genealogy Talks are free to everyone! Tuesday, February 25, 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Jackson County Genealogy Library, 3405 S. Pacific Hwy, Medford. To register call 541-512-2340, email reception.JCGL@gmail.com, or stop by the Genealogy Library.
