April 27 @ 10:00 am - April 28 @ 3:00 pm

You won’t want to miss the Annual Heritage Plant Sale at Hanley Farm, April 27 & 28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spanning 125 years, three generations of the Hanley family contributed to building the lush and unique landscape that is Hanley Farm today. Earlier this year, Southern Oregon Historical Society volunteers propagated starts from as many as 70 different varieties of plants from the farm – ready now and available for you to purchase and bring a bit of history to your garden!
While adults peruse and load wagons with their plant selections, a children’s activities tent will be available to keep the little-ones entertained. And a once your selections are made, plan to tour the now two-year old Shakespeare’s garden, or as it’s commonly known, The Bard’s Garden, created as part of the Family Nurturing Center’s Farm and Food programs. The garden has matured nicely, thanks to the ongoing care provided by local garden writer and educator, Rhonda Nowak, and other Family Nurturing Center volunteers. As you stroll the garden, you’ll discover familiar plants mentioned in Shakespeare’s writings.
And there’s much more! Take a self-guided garden tour, enhanced with brochures explaining the family history and unique plantings – including the Hanley Willow, an Oregon Heritage Tree. Or take a wagon ride, a perfect way to see the entire farm. Tour the historic Hanley House, led by docents in period dress. The Hanley Mercantile will be open, offering special gift items, always reasonably priced!  Food and beverages will be available for purchase with picnic tables set up under the trees. And, of course, opportunities abound for taking beautiful photos.

House Tours (noon to 3 p.m. both days):
