“Pioneer History in Story and Song”

March 10 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

$5.00

Historic Jacksonville, Inc. is ringing in the New Year with another great season of “Pioneer History in Story & Song.”  After three years of sold-out performances, troubadour and historian David Gordon returns by popular demand on January 13, February 10, March 10, and April 14 to share the music of the late 1800s and the stories behind it.  Audiences can look forward to the following:

Sunday, March 10 — “The 19th Century on the Move:  Songs to Lighten the Journey.”

Sunday, April 14 — “Songs of Hardship and Hope:  From Struggle to Strength.”

Performances are at 1:30 and 3 p.m. in the Naversen Room of the Jacksonville Library located at 340 West C Street in Jacksonville.  Admission is $5 per person.  Reservations are required and can be made at info@historicjacksonville.org or by calling 541-245-3650.  All proceeds go towards the preservation and maintenance of Jacksonville’s historic buildings.

Each of David’s 1-hour shows will include 8 or 9 songs originally popular in the middle-to-late 1800s.  David’s narration interweaves the songs, gives them historical context, and helps us to connect with them and our 19th Century heritage
