WINDOWS IN TIME VIRTUAL PRESENTATIONS

September 2 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

The Southern Oregon Historical Society and Jackson County Library Services co-sponsor monthly “Windows in Time” lunchtime lecture-series. Under “normal” conditions, presentations are offered to the public on the first and second Wednesday throughout the year. During this time of uncertainty, live presentations have been deferred. However, you can enjoy these free, historic talks in the comfort of your home – virtually, via Zoom, online!

Wednesday, September 2, 12pm-1pm. Guest speaker Ben Truwe, Author, Historian, and Curator of the massive “Southern Oregon History, Revised” website, presents “The Rogue River Wars: New Perspectives.” Register at https://jcls.libcal.com/event/6809328 to receive Zoom meeting details.

  • The story of the Rogue River Indian wars is usually viewed through a haze of Hollywood mythmaking. A careful reading of contemporary documents, however, reveals a more human story of rumor, panic, and vengeance. In his September WIT talk, Ben will focus on events that took place during the years 1850 through 1855, when cultures clashed in Jackson County.
