Section of Highway 101 Remains Closed

The Oregon Department of Transportation reports that Highway 101 11 miles south of Port Orford is still blocked by a lanslide. About 400 yards of debris make up the slide. Flood Watch Issued for Eagle Point, Grants Pass

The National Weather Service is issuing a flood watch for the Rogue River at Eagle Point, near the site of the former Gold Ray Dam and Grants Pass through Sunday. Heavy rains are expected this weekend, combined with melting snow. A “flood watch” means that flooding is possible, but not imminent.

Mount Ashland Closure

For the second time in a week, blizzard-like conditions forced the closure of Mount Ashland to skiers on Thursday. In the last 7 days, the mountain has received over 7-inches of new snow, bringing the depth at the top to over 149 inches. Officials plan to re-open Mount Ashland Friday morning at 9 a.m.

Friend of Victim Held in Eagle Point Shooting

An Eagle Point man is dead, and another is in custody this morning (Thursday) after a shooting incident at their residence. At 12:40 p.m. yesterday, police responded to a reported suicide on North Buchanan in Eagle Point, and upon arrival, they found 24-year old Joseph Faaeteete dead in the garage.Read More »

A tip from an alert employee at Baldini’s restaurant led to the arrest of a suspected burglar. Grants Pass police took 23-year old Jack David Spurgeon into custody, after they found him inside Lam-Air Heating Tuesday night.
